Android 4.2 app pack simulates Jelly Bean update.

Android 4.2 App Pack Available for Any Device Running Deodexed 4.1 or higher

With Android 4.2 touching down, it won’t be long until the forums are populated with ports of the second coming of Jelly Bean and everyone is on his or her merry way. Until then, though, there is a mod pack that gives you a taste of Android 4.2.

XDA Senior Member safariking has released a universal mod pack that includes a number of Android 4.2 applications. The mod pack is universal because the only thing you need to install the mod pack, according to safariking, is a deodexed Android 4.1 ROM. So if you’re on Android 4.0.4 or lower, you can’t use it. The apps and features included in the pack include:

- New clock
- New Email/Gmail
- New Music app
- New Launcher
- New 4.2 keyboard
- New 4.2 Camera
- 4.2 Sounds
- 4.2 Bootanimation
- 4.2 Fonts

So no, it isn’t an actual Android 4.2 update. However, it is as close as some devices will get for a while until a device-specific Android 4.2 ROM is ported or compiled. If you don’t know the features of these new apps, we’ve outlined some of the new features for the new Gmailthe new keyboard, and other features like Photosphere.
